KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Acting President Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of PBS Labuan Division Chief Datuk Peter Mak, who passed away at Labuan Hospital today.
Dr Joachim described Mak as a kind, generous and dedicated individual who had touched the lives of many with his warmth, humility and strong sense of service to the community.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Datuk Peter Mak. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his legacy of love, kindness and generosity will always be remembered,” he said in a statement today.
“On behalf of PBS, I wish to convey our deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. May they find comfort and strength in the cherished memories he leaves behind,” he added.
The Kundasang Assemblyman said Mak’s contributions and positive impact on those around him would continue to be an inspiration, even as the community mourns his loss.
Mak, 62, who had been actively involved in PBS since the party’s formative years, played a pivotal role in strengthening the party’s presence in Labuan. As Division Chief, he was well-respected among grassroots members for his tireless efforts in championing the welfare of the people, particularly in bridging the concerns of the Labuan community with the party’s leadership in Sabah.
He was also known for his strong commitment to party unity and his ability to rally members behind PBS’ struggles and aspirations, making him a key figure in ensuring the party’s continued relevance in Labuan politics.
