KOTA BELUD: The effort to install solar LED street lights in tourism areas and village roads is a key focus for KDM’s prospective candidate in the Kadamaian state constituency (DUN), Josely Taising, if given the mandate in the upcoming state election.
He said that based on his recent visits to several homestay tourism centres and village roads in Kadamaian, many roads still lack solar LED street lights.
For instance, the road leading to Kg Gaur Tamalang in Kota Belud is very dark at night.
“This situation poses a significant danger to road users,” he mentioned in his latest social media post.
Josely noted that the solar LED street light project has been aggressively implemented in Peninsular Malaysia, benefiting rural residents in those areas.
He mentioned that the cost of installing solar LED lights is reportedly cheaper and easier to set up.
According to news reports, in Peninsular Malaysia, the number of installations allowed is not more than 40 units for each village, and they will be installed at reasonable distances, with the number of solar LED lights considering the needs and size of the village.
“I believe that if such basic facilities can be easily implemented in Peninsular Malaysia, there is no reason why this solar LED light project cannot be enjoyed by the residents of Kadamaian.
“This is part of my plan to assist the people of Kadamaian if given the mandate in the state election,” he said.
