KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah UMNO Information Chief, Datuk Suhaimi Nasir, highlighted the importance of the party’s information machinery to actively utilise social media as the primary channel for delivering information to the public ahead of the Sabah State Election (PRN).
He stated that the traditional approach of speeches used in every election is no longer a priority; instead, social media should be the main platform to ensure that UMNO and Barisan Nasional’s (BN) messages reach the grassroots.
“BNComms must be activated in every division and should not be left stagnant.
“Information cannot be confined to the upper levels; it must reach the people below,” he said.
Suhaimi, who is also the Member of Parliament for Libaran, reminded all 25 UMNO divisions in Sabah to consistently engage in social media, whether in the form of counter-attacks on issues or sharing the latest information.
“We know that one of the reasons we lost in the last PRN was due to falling behind in social media access. Therefore, every opportunity must be seized.
“Social media is not an option but a necessity,” he emphasised.
The launch of the UMNO Malaysia/BN Information Work Manual was officiated by the Sabah UMNO Chief, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, and the Central UMNO Information Chief, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.
