KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Dexter Lau, President of the Malaysia–China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) Sabah, was recently appointed as Honorary Advisor to the Malaysia Chinese Women Entrepreneurs Association (MCWEA).
This appointment is not only a high recognition of his longstanding efforts in promoting economic and trade cooperation and supporting the growth of women entrepreneurs but also symbolises the deep synergy between MCWEA and MCCC Sabah in fostering future cross-sector collaboration and resource sharing.
Datuk Dexter Lau highlighted that women play a pivotal role in today’s society and economic development. He noted that women possess not only resilience and determination but also innovation, attentiveness, and long-term vision.
“If the business community can fully harness the unique strengths of women, it will undoubtedly inject greater diversity and resilience into the national and regional economy.”
He further stressed that, with the constant shifts in the global economic landscape, women entrepreneurs should actively embrace new trends, leverage cross-border platforms and resources, strengthen international linkages, and explore broader opportunities for growth.
This recognition was conferred during his participation at the “Celebrating Resilience, Driving Change” Leadership Installation Ceremony and Business Forum held in Kuala Lumpur. The event gathered Chinese women entrepreneurs, young entrepreneurs, and business leaders from across the nation in a vibrant atmosphere, fully showcasing the rising influence of women in the business world.
Through experience sharing, dialogue, and strategic discussions, the forum further promoted the development and collaboration of women entrepreneurs, highlighting their resilience, determination, and innovative spirit.
At the ceremony, the newly elected leadership team was also officially sworn in. The new team’s formation not only signifies the continuity and legacy of MCWEA’s organisational structure but also heralds the launch of more innovative initiatives and cooperative projects, empowering women entrepreneurs to play an even greater role at both the national and international levels.
Notably, lawyer Yong Siew Lee, a member of MCCC Sabah and vice chairperson of the MCCC National Young Entrepreneurs Committee, was also appointed as vice president of MCWEA and deputy president of its Selangor & Kuala Lumpur branch. This recognition is not only a personal honour for her but also reflects the continued acknowledgement of outstanding MCCC talents at the national level.
The event concluded in a warm and inspiring atmosphere. This ceremony and forum were not only a leadership transition but also a meaningful convergence of ideas and strength, injecting new confidence and momentum into the future of women entrepreneurs.
Distinguished attendees included MCWEA President Datin Sri Jessie Wong and Deputy President Lenny Chiah, as well as representatives of women entrepreneurs from across the country, all of whom witnessed this historic moment together.
