AGC set to file charges against suspects involved in the bullying case of Zara Qairina
KOTA KINABALU: The Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) has confirmed that multiple individuals will face charges related to the bullying of Zara Qairina Mahathir, after reviewing the investigation documents provided by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
As reported by The Vibes, the decision to initiate charges is founded on the evidence at hand and will not disrupt the coroner’s inquest into Zara’s death, as stated by the AGC in a press release today.
“The Attorney General’s Chambers has examined the investigation documents concerning Zara Qairina’s death submitted by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and has resolved to prosecute several individuals implicated in the bullying of Zara Qairina based on the evidence available,” the statement indicated.
The AGC emphasized that the prosecution for bullying offenses will proceed independently of the ongoing inquest proceedings.
“This decision will not influence the investigations still being conducted by PDRM regarding the death of Zara Qairina, including the inquest proceedings that will take place in court,” it further stated.
This decision represents a crucial advancement in the quest for justice following public outcry regarding the case, which has highlighted national concerns about bullying, neglect, and misconduct within educational institutions.
