Jeffery Nor proposes the expedited implementation of the Rent-to-Own Scheme for PPR Keramat and PPR Serigai

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah UMNO Election Director, Jeffery Nor Mohamed, has suggested that the Rent-to-Own Scheme for PPR Keramat and PPR Serigai units in Putatan be expedited.

He said that this approach is appropriate given that PPR Keramat and PPR Serigai have been established for over 10 years.

“Therefore, it is fitting for both PPRs to be included in the Rent-to-Own Scheme,” he said in a statement.

Jeffery, who is also the Putatan UMNO Chief, noted that the district’s limited area of only 30 square kilometres restricts land use for residential purposes, such as villages.

Thus, he emphasised that this scheme is very suitable for the B40 group, facilitating their ability to own homes.

“The condition of these PPR homes will be better managed once this scheme is implemented, as prospective owners will take better care of their homes compared to renting, which can lead to a careless attitude,” he explained.

Jeffery stated that the selling price should be set around RM40,000, with the condition that during the rent-to-own period, no subletting to others is allowed.

“The rental payment should be capped at a maximum of 20 years to ensure that the rent-to-own payments are affordable for interested owners wishing to continue with this scheme.

“I hope that such initiatives can be implemented with the agreement of both the state and federal governments as soon as possible, according to suitability and necessity,” he concluded.
