PBS and STAR caught ‘between two ‘minds’—cooperate with Malayan parties or use their own symbols in PRN—Dr. Kanul

KOTA KINABALU: The recent political manoeuvring by PBS and STAR leaders has sparked polemic and raised questions among many political observers in Sabah.

Many believe the approach taken by both parties, including the failure of both party presidents to attend the recent Sabah People’s Idea Party (Gagasan Rakyat) Congress, is more inclined towards a position called “two-minds” or “between fear and courage.”

Social activist and political analyst Dr. Kanul Gindol believes the latest scenario shows that both parties seem to have ‘agreed half-heartedly’ for GRS to cooperate with PH in the upcoming state elections.

Without touching on the previous statements of PBS and STAR leaders, who are somewhat reluctant to accept PH or any party from Malaya as partners ahead of the state election, Kanul said such a political culture tends to be associated with politics with questionable honesty or wisdom.

“It’s all just a show masquerading as political strategy.” It should be black if it’s black and white if it’s white,” he said when contacted by the Jesselton Times today.

According to his observations, Warisan President’s approach is more unique and interesting for political stability and rapid development.

“Warisan wants the ‘people of Sabah,’ who are their friends, to win seats.

“Other Sabah parties are busy finding and discarding friends or partners, he said.

Kanul said GRS now wants partner parties from Malaya, which include PKR, DAP, Amanah, and local parties UPKO or PH, or seemingly rejected the Sarawak formula.

“UPKO certainly holds the Malayan party charter because it is not the dominant party in PH, even though its president is appointed by the Sabah PH Chairman,” he said.

He said, ‘The president of Warisan is more honest because he extended a hand of friendship to PBS earlier, but it was rejected by PBS.

“In fact, the president of PBS and the head of information for PBS have sworn allegiance to remain with GRS.’

“If STAR wants to weigh out GRS at this time, what’s the point? Of course they want to win more seats. But after that, where did they take the seat? “Are they going back to GRS+PH?” he said.
