TUARAN: “Change, if not now, then when… ini kali lah?
This is the call to action from the vice president of the Democratic Society for the Well-being of the People (KDM), who is also the chief of Kiulu KDM, Gundohing Henry Saimpon, as the 17th Sabah State Election approaches.
In a message prior to the campaign, he expressed that while development has indeed taken place in the Kiulu state constituency, there are still numerous issues that the current government has failed to address or improve upon.
“For instance, there remains a need for the development or improvement of village road infrastructure, as well as the installation of solar lights in villages that desperately require this amenity.
“Furthermore, KDM is committed to adopting LIGS’s approach of visiting villages to purchase rubber directly from tappers by supplying trucks to carry the villagers’ agricultural products, alleviating the transportation costs that would otherwise burden them, along with many other important needs that require attention,” he stated.
Henry made these remarks during a meet-the-people event at Kampung Tiong Gondogon on Sunday.
KDM Secretary-General Gundohing Willie Jude, along with Kiulu KDM Vice-Chiefs Simon Yagul and Joluin Joiruh, was also in attendance.
Henry reaffirmed KDM’s position that they will be running independently in the upcoming state elections.
He pointed out that the efforts of opposition parties to associate KDM with other groups, including those from Malaya, are simply intended to mislead the public in order to secure their support.
He noted that the ‘original Sabahan’ party KDM is anticipated to seek election in more than 40 state assembly seats during the 17th state election.
