Ranau set to become a stronghold for KDM – Wetrom

RANAU: The Democratic Society for the Well-being of the People Party (KDM) is confident that Ranau will become their stronghold, especially in Kundasang, in the upcoming 17th State Election (PRN17).

Its Deputy President, Datuk Wetrom Bahanda, said this was based on the extraordinary reception from the residents of Ranau during the series of visits to the polling district centres (PDM).

“I see Ranau is about to make history, just like in other areas we’ve visited. Support is steadily increasing because the people are confident in the struggle KDM is leading, which is to bring prosperity to the people.

“With the reception we’ve received, not only in Kundasang but also in Paginatan and Karanaan, Ranau will become a KDM stronghold in the upcoming election,” he said when launching the election machinery for the Kundasang, Paginatan, and Karanaan state assembly areas here on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Wetrom said the party will also contest in non-Kadazan, Dusun, and Murut (KDM) majority areas, including Chinese areas.

He said it was at the request of the grassroots in the relevant areas, who wanted change and for KDM to contest there.

“For example, in Sri Tanjong, Tawau, I would like to announce that we will be contesting there even though the majority of the population is Chinese. This proves that they believe KDM is capable of bringing prosperity to the people.

“Indeed, I have said that we will be contesting in areas with a majority of KDM ethnic groups, but we cannot ignore the demands of other ethnic groups in their areas either. That is why this party is named Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM), a party for all ethnic groups,” he said.
