Sri Sithi Vinayagar Temple Delegation pays a courtesy call on MPS President 

SANDAKAN: In a meaningful effort to strengthen collaboration between local authorities and the Indian community in Sandakan, the President of Sri Sithi Vinayagar Temple (SSVT), Dr. Ganesan Kumarasamy, led a delegation on a courtesy call to the President of the Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS), Mr. Walter Kenson, here recently.

Accompanying Dr. Ganesan were SSVT committee members Dr. Arasu, Mr. RathiVarman, Mr. Namanathan, Mr. Kanan, Dr. Sharvin, and Madam Kamachi. 

The delegation discussed several pressing issues affecting the Indian community, particularly in areas concerning infrastructure, public amenities, and the need for sustained support for cultural and religious institutions.

Among the key points discussed was the importance of fostering inclusive policies that support the continued growth and well-being of minority communities in Sandakan. 

The delegation also highlighted the opportunity for enhanced development and services in areas with a significant Indian population, aiming to uplift the quality of life and strengthen community harmony.

Mr. Walter Kenson responded with remarkable promptness and understanding. 

He immediately took steps to address some of the urgent matters raised during the meeting and assured the delegation that his office would give due attention to the remaining issues. 

The SSVT delegation highly appreciated his proactive approach and openness to community engagement.

Dr. Ganesan, speaking on behalf of the committee, expressed his sincere gratitude to Mr. Kenson for his receptive attitude and swift action. He emphasised the importance of ongoing dialogue and cooperation between religious and cultural institutions and local governance to build a more inclusive, responsive, and equitable society.

The courtesy call marks a positive step forward in ensuring the voices of the Indian community in Sandakan are heard and their needs are met.
