Ewon always attentive to the concerns of traders Tamu Borneo Seri Kembangan

PUTRAJAYA: The fate of the traders from Borneo who conduct their business here on weekends is consistently a focus for the federal government.

Thanks to the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Datuk Ewon Benedick, who is always caring and responsive to the complaints of the traders operating in the capital city.

Today, Ewon presented a special ministerial allocation of RM50,000 to the Borneo Cultural Market Association of Seri Kembangan aimed at upgrading the facilities and equipment of the market.

The allocation was given during the courtesy visit of the association to his office in Putrajaya, led by the President of the Association, Nelson Entap, along with its committee members.

During the meeting, Ewon received a brief briefing on the operations of the Borneo Cultural Market, commonly known as Tamu Borneo, which takes place every Saturday, as well as the future plans of the association.

“I shared the ministry’s initiatives for hawkers, small traders, and guest entrepreneurs, including special initiatives for Sabah and Sarawak such as the Tamu Desa project, BEEP Plus, the Guest Entrepreneur Financing Scheme, and the Craft Entrepreneur Financing Scheme.

“We also have platforms like the National Council for Hawkers and Small Traders and the National Hawker and Small Trader Day celebration to recognize the contributions of this group,” he said.

Ewon stated that the RM50,000 allocation was provided at the request of the association during the Kaamatan Festival celebration in Putrajaya last May, specifically for the purchase of additional canopies and other equipment for the market.

Meanwhile, the President of the Borneo Market Association, Nelson Entap, expressed gratitude to Datuk Ewon for his continued support for the development of the Borneo Market.

“So far, there are over 70 traders from Sabah and Sarawak selling at this market. Many have applied to sell at the Borneo Market, but we only select traders who sell products from Borneo,” he said.
