KOTA KINABALU: Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, one of the most esteemed statesmen globally, will celebrate his 100th birthday on Thursday.
At 100 years old, Mahathir remains active and outspoken, sharing his thoughts and perspectives on matters of public concern, which has earned him a world record in politics.
To commemorate his centenary, Tun Mahathir will participate in a live podcast for Mohamad Episode 10 on July 10 at 10 AM, available on all of Dr. Mahathir’s official social media channels.
Mahathir, often referred to as the ‘Chief Architect’ of Putrajaya, was born on July 10, 1925.
He is part of a generation recognised as the Silent Generation or Traditionalists.
However, he is far more than what labels suggest; he is a visionary, a genius, a leader, and, above all, ahead of his time.
His political career spans 75 years, a remarkable achievement that no one in Malaysia has matched.
He has experienced everything, made mistakes, and incurred significant losses along the way. Nevertheless, he remains determined to elevate Malaysia to new heights.
As a young teenager growing up in the 1990s, I felt a sense of duty to support him in this endeavour.
After serving as prime minister for 22 years, he chose to resign and pass the leadership to the next generation.
However, fate intervened, prompting him to reflect on the legacy he left behind. Drawn back into politics, he took it upon himself to address the challenges created by his predecessor. With the support of a grateful nation, he returned to serve another term as Prime Minister as part of Pakatan Harapan 1.0.
Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad is a hard worker and a lifelong learner.
He is an avid reader with a natural curiosity. If you look at his desk, you will find it filled with numerous files and books, as seen in various interviews from his office.
He has the nation’s best interests at heart and possesses the knowledge needed to help the country recover from self-made crises. You may not admire him, but he is a fair man.
