Next state assembly sitting – Could this be the final one before PRN?

KOTA KINABALU: The upcoming State Assembly session, starting on Monday, might be the last before a state election (PRN) is announced.

Although a state assembly sitting can occur just prior to a state election, it is contingent upon the expiration of the state assembly term or a possible dissolution by the TYT.

A general election must take place within 60 days following the dissolution of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly.

The current Sabah assembly term ends Nov 12.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor recently stated that four bills will be presented during the two-day State Assembly session commencing next Monday.

The Chief Minister’s Department will introduce two bills: the Forestry (Amendment) Bill 2025 and the Climate and Carbon Governance Bill 2025.

The Finance Ministry will present the other two bills — the State Sales Tax (Amendment) Bill 2025 and the Supplementary Supply Bill 2025.
