TONGOD: Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is prepared to defend the Kuamut state constituency (DUN) seat in anticipation of the forthcoming State Election (PRN-17).

The vice president of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat), Datuk Masiung Banah, expressed confidence in the party’s ability to secure a seat for GRS and to represent the people’s voice within the local party, ensuring its continued leadership of the state government.

The intention was clearly articulated when he presided over the Annual General Conference of the Gagasan Rakyat Kuamut, which was attended by over 2,000 delegates and observers at the Entilibon Hall on Saturday.

During the conference, the Kuamut Gagasan Rakyat also unveiled the PRN-17 machinery, which includes three primary wings: women’s, youth and beliawanis.

Speaking to reporters after the conference, Masiung, who is also the Kuamut GRS chief, said the launch of the machinery was an indication that the party was prepared to face the opposing party.

“The voice of the Sabah people, who want the local party to continue to lead the Sabah government, should be respected. The Gagasan Rakyat, led by the Chief Minister, should be the backbone of GRS.

“We seek the blessing of GRS leaders in Kuamut so that the name of Masiung Banah is also listed in three proposed names contesting the PRN-17,” he added.

Masiung said a special meeting with GRS Kuamut leaders would be held to discuss work with the PRN-17 machinery.

According to the Kuamut assemblyman,  all party wings have begun to ensure that the GRS component parties can organise the campaign’s journey.
