PUTATAN: The Putatan UMNO Chief, Jeffery Nor Mohamed, asserted that Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan’s claim that the Federal Government aims to control Sabah is not only irresponsible but also appears to be an effort to divert attention from his own shortcomings as the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food Industry of the state.
“The people are waiting for solutions to issues in the food sector and assistance for farmers, fishermen, and breeders, as well as initiatives to address the cost of living.
“However, the minister is more preoccupied with creating cheap perceptions through political speeches,” he said in a statement regarding the accusation.
According to a report by UMNO Online, Jeffery Nor also questioned the lack of concrete policies to address the fundamental issues faced by the people in the agriculture and fisheries sectors, emphasising that the public is becoming increasingly discerning in evaluating the performance of their leaders.
“The era of exploiting regional emotions to mask weaknesses is over. Since when has providing subsidies and building infrastructure for the people been labelled as colonisation?” He asserted.
In this regard, UMNO Sabah urges all state leaders to stop sowing doubts about the federal government and instead focus entirely on efforts to assist the people who are currently facing economic pressures ahead of the implementation of the Sales and Service Tax (SST) on July 1, he stated.
He noted that UMNO Sabah consistently supports initiatives that promote development and welfare for the state but rejects unconstructive political rhetoric.
“UMNO Sabah calls on all state leaders to cease spreading doubts. The people want action, not outdated political statements. It is time to work, not to engage in politics,” he added.
