KIULU: The Kiulu 5M Bombon Tagal River Festival is set to return at the Kokum Kem Malangang Centre on June 27, featuring a variety of exciting activities in conjunction with this eco-tourism festival.
According to the schedule shared on social media, several engaging activities will take place during the festival, including the “5M” competition.
The 5M event includes Minrulun @ Tubing – Test your skills and enjoy the thrill of river tubing!, Manampatau – Traditional Kiulu-style rafting competition, and Mamarampanau – Bamboo walking: balance and focus.
Also included in the competition are Magapon – traditional fish catching, showcasing our heritage skills, and Minrambot – a special event that challenges creativity and teamwork in fish catching.
This one-day festival is jointly organised by the MANTAP Kiulu Neighbourhood Watch Club, the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), and the Bombon committees from Kg. Malangang Baru, Malangang Lama, Namadan, Tombung, Tompinahaton, Ponohuon, SK Malangang Baru, and the Kokum Kem Malangang Centre.
The Kiulu Assemblyman, who is also the Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment of Sabah, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, along with Tuaran Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, is expected to jointly officiate the festival’s opening ceremony.
