KOTA KINABALU: Members of the Umno party must remain vigilant against leaders who speak of struggle while quickly switching allegiance to other parties when Umno faces defeat.
Sabah Umno Election Director, Jeffery Nor Mohamed, stated that those who abandon the party in times of loss are not true fighters but rather traitors to the party.
Therefore, he said, the Sabah Umno Chief, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, is committed to continuing the fight for Umno and does not wish for the party to be betrayed time and again.
“Do not forget the faces of the disloyal. In the state of Sabah, all the people know who these leaders are, where their parties originated, and how many times they have switched parties.
“Whenever they lose, they jump ship from the party that has given them everything, even when these leaders are not YB at that time.
“It depends on the intentions and desires of these leaders; what is certain is that Allah knows who is truthful and who is not… in fighting for the welfare of the people of Sabah,” he said in a statement here today.
Jeffery Nor, who is also the Putatan Umno Chief, made these comments when responding to the statement of the Deputy Secretary of the Sabah People’s Alliance (GRS), Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, yesterday regarding the stand of Barisan Nasional (BN), which will only cooperate with GRS after the state election.
Armizan stated that he would agree if the coalition were to clash with BN in the 17th State Election (PRN17) after considering the ‘intent’ of Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.
Jeffery remarked that Sabah, during the time it was abandoned by several Umno leaders including Armizan, faced numerous challenges and trials in leading UMNO Sabah.
“Certainly, the option available to him is to restore UMNO Sabah to its rightful path.
“InsyaAllah, UMNO Sabah now has many new faces that are more realistic in their struggle, and we certainly agree and are in harmony with our leadership in line with the party’s direction,” he said.
