Linked with other parties? Sorry, KDM vows to go solo in PRN17 – Wetrom

BELURAN: The Deputy President of Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM), Datuk Wetrom Bahanda, has affirmed that the party remains committed to contesting independently or solo in the upcoming 17th State Election (PRN17).

He stated that although there are rumours linking KDM with other parties, these are merely unfounded speculations and do not affect their determination to compete solo.

“We are associated with certain parties, but I apologise. Whether in my area of Kota Marudu or in any region we have visited, we have openly declared, and previously our president (Datuk Peter Anthony) has also stated.

“We (KDM) will contest independently, and afterward, we will decide how the state government will be formed,” he said while speaking at the launch event for the KDM machinery for the PRN17 in the Beluran division, here, on Saturday.

Also present were KDM Vice Presidents Henry Saimpon and Dr Gaim Lunkapis, KDM Secretary-General Willie Jude, KDM Information Chief Mohd Ari-Nadzrah Abd Rahman, and KDM Women’s Chief Kahilin Helena Tulas.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Kota Marudu and the State Assemblyman (ADUN) for Bandau acknowledged that KDM is currently facing challenges and trials as the PRN17 approaches.

However, he noted that these challenges arise because KDM is growing stronger and its influence is expanding across the state.

“A strong party, a party that the people admire, is the one that faces significant challenges. We must understand that when we are part of a party that is respected by the people, the challenges are not trivial.

“That is why we need to make sacrifices; we see the sacrifices of our president, who has even been imprisoned because he is the president of KDM, but I am confident that this will not weaken us; instead, it will ignite our spirit to fight harder,” he said.
