The slogan “Sabah for Sabahans” should not be used to spread hate toward others for political gains – Salleh

KOTA KINABALU: The slogan of “Sabah for Sabahans” should reflect the spirit of Sabahans within the Malaysian family — strong in identity but united in nationhood, said former Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.

He stressed that it must not be used to spread hate or anger toward others.

Instead, “Sabah for Sabahans” should promote fairness, dignity, and mutual respect, he said.

“The true meaning of “Sabah for Sabahans” is not about excluding others but about ensuring that Sabah’s identity, rights, and voice are recognised and respected within a united Malaysia.

“It is a call for justice, unity, and pride — so that Sabah can grow with confidence and dignity alongside the rest of the country,” he said in his latest Facebook post.

Salleh, who is the Usukan assemblyman, asserted that “Sabah is part of Malaysia”, adding that the slogan is a call for justice, unity, and pride — so that Sabah can grow with confidence and dignity alongside the rest of the country.

He said the “Sabah for Sabahans” slogan also shows the love and pride of Sabahans for their state.

“It reflects the desire of the people to protect their rights and have a strong voice in shaping their future, and this slogan belongs to all Sabahans,” he said.
