Yee Moh Chai urges Sabahans to remain vigilant amid a smear campaign against GRS and CM

KOTA KINABALU – The public has been urged to stay vigilant amid a smear campaign allegedly targeting the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor.

Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) deputy president, Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai, claims the attacks are orchestrated by the opposition, in collaboration with political “hangers-on”, aiming to destabilise the current administration and sway voters ahead of the upcoming Sabah state election.

“They will keep harping on water and power issues to win over voters who will soon decide who should govern Sabah for the next five years,” Dr Yee says.

“They are hopelessly naive if they think such slanderous tactics will work on discerning voters.”

“Enough of the tomfoolery. Nothing will deter the people of Sabah from supporting a government that truly cares for everyone,” he adds, stressing that the current administration “walks the talk.”

The smear campaign continues with fresh allegations. The latest GRS leader targeted is Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Federal Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living and Member of Parliament for Papar.

He has been accused of involvement in a corruption scandal related to a mineral exploration project — accusations he has firmly denied.

GRS Secretary-General and Finance Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun has expressed confidence in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to fairly investigate any allegations involving GRS representatives, including himself.

Earlier in March, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Secretary-General Datuk Chin Shu Ying condemned the smear efforts against the state government and the Chief Minister.

He said a video titled “Langkah Billiard & Biawak Episode 6” was being circulated by opposition elements in a bid to stir political instability.

“These accusations are purely politically motivated and baseless. They rely on manipulated videos and misleading narratives meant to destabilise the government, not promote real accountability,” Chin said.

Dr Yee, a former Deputy Chief Minister, emphasises that the GRS-PH Plus coalition will not be distracted by these attacks.

“Come hell or high water, our focus remains on developing the state and ensuring the people’s well-being,” he says.

He reaffirms that tackling water and electricity issues and eradicating hardcore poverty remain top priorities, alongside ensuring continued economic growth.

Since 2020, the coalition government’s performance has been commendable.

Its goals are clear: to elevate Sabah and improve the socio-economic conditions of its people.

“The opposition either fails to understand what’s happening or is simply envious of the government’s progress,” Dr Yee says. “The Chief Minister’s policies and programmes have clearly delivered positive outcomes.”

The PBS is one of the eight component parties of GRS.
