Sepanggar MP Urged to Prioritise Local Issues Before Pursuing DUN Candidacy

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, the Member of Parliament for Sepanggar, has been urged to concentrate on the issues within his constituency before expressing interest in contesting for the Tempasuk state seat in the upcoming state election.

President of the Sabah People’s Concern Organisation (PPRS) Datuk Mohd Fadli Fathullah emphasised that as a public representative, Mustapha should prioritise resolving ongoing issues in Sepanggar.

“The MP for Sepanggar needs to focus on his current responsibilities.

“To date, there has been little visible change under his administration, particularly regarding the persistent water issues and economic development in the area,” he said in a statement here today.

He also reminded that the chairman of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, has announced Datuk Mohd Arsad Bistari from the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) as the candidate for the Tempasuk DUN.

“Therefore, I advise him to concentrate on the Sepanggar area and ensure that the trust placed in him by the people is fulfilled before considering a run for the DUN,” he added.
