KTC and UPPM Conclude Raya Shopping in Tawau

TAWAU: The final Raya Shopping event, part of the 2025 Iftar Tour sponsored by Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Berhad (KTC) in partnership with UPPM Sabah, was held this afternoon at Servay Tawau supermarket.

This initiative served the Tawau and Kalabakan parliamentary areas, including the state constituencies of Balung, Apas, Sri Tanjung, Kukusan, Tanjung Batu, Merotai, and Sebatik.

Fifty-one selected children from these areas were given the opportunity to shop for Raya clothing in preparation for the Aidilfitri celebration.

In total, 1,200 underprivileged children have benefitted from the Shopping Raya programme throughout the 2025 Iftar Tour, an increase from 850 recipients last year.

KTC Executive Director Datuk Dexter Lau expressed his appreciation for the support received from all involved.

“Time has flown by, and this programme is nearing its end. It is truly meaningful to assist children in need. This initiative reminds my family and me to be grateful, cherish our blessings, and not take anything for granted,” he said.

He also mentioned that the blessings he shares are meant to be enjoyed collectively and expressed hope for future collaborations if re-elected.

Local leader Datuk Aziah Atoh noted that the Shopping Raya program, which encompasses 24 parliamentary constituencies, prioritises orphans and those in need.

He thanked Datuk Dexter Lau and Datin Siew for their generous contributions.

“We are very thankful and hope Datuk Dexter will continue to bring joy to children and the asnaf community in the future. This is our second year working together, and I truly value his dedication as a corporate leader who has been actively involved from the start,” he stated.

Datuk Abdul Karim Wahid, leader of the Kukusan area, expressed gratitude to KTC for sponsoring the Shopping Raya programme.

He hopes KTC will continue to thrive and set an example for other companies, inviting the Kalabakan and Tawau communities to join in.
