KTC Prioritises Local Workforce Recruitment

KOTA MARUDU – KTC, in collaboration with UPPM Negeri Sabah, continues its Iftar Tour 2025, reaching its fifth destination in Kota Marudu today.

This initiative covers the areas of the Matunggong, Bandau, and Tandek State Assembly constituencies, aiming to support those in need.

The Iftar event held at the PPR Korongkom Hall in Kota Marudu featured the distribution of breaking fast meals to underprivileged groups, including the asnaf, elderly, persons with disabilities, single mothers, and the B40 community.

Over 300 attendees were present, with 30 individuals receiving festive cash contributions from Sawit Kinabalu and food baskets from KTC.

KTC’s Executive Director, Datuk Dexter Lau, expressed hope that this initiative would benefit even more individuals in need throughout the month of Ramadan.

He emphasised that KTC takes pride in its workforce, which comprises 70% Bumiputera employees and 99% local staff.

This commitment reflects the company’s dedication to empowering the local community by providing quality job opportunities and contributing to the region’s economic development.

Local leader Datuk Redonah Bahanda noted that this marks the second time KTC and UPPM have hosted an Iftar event in this area.

She expressed her 0desire for the program to continue in the coming year.

She added that not only in Kota Marudu but throughout Sabah, the people are reaping the benefits of the state government’s initiatives, such as the Sentuhan Kasih program and SMJ Housing.

Also present were UPPM Sabah Director Datuk Haji Awang Kadin, Datin Yee Tsai Siew, Special Officer to the Chief Minister of Sabah Sazayle Donold, local leaders, local government officials, KTC executives, and UPPM representatives.
