KOTA BELUD: Fifty children from Kota Belud enjoyed a shopping trip for Raya clothes at Golden Dragon City, getting ready for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Each child was given RM200 to buy festive outfits and shoes.
The shopping event was organised by Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Berhad (KTC) in partnership with the Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM) of Sabah, as part of the Iftar Tour 2025.
Kota Belud was the second stop for this initiative.
The program aims to ease the financial strain on low-income families while bringing happiness to children as the celebration nears.
KTC’s Executive Director, Datuk Dexter Lau, highlighted that this effort is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) to help those in need.
Also attending were the Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports and ADUN Pintasan, Datuk Fairuz Renddan, the Director of UPPM Sabah, Datuk Awang Kadin, along with community leaders, local officials, and representatives from KTC and UPPM.
During a press conference, Datuk Fairuz thanked KTC and UPPM Sabah for organising this program, which helps those in need prepare for Hari Raya. He expressed hope that similar events will continue in the future.
Datuk Dexter expressed his happiness at how well the program went, noting the joyful faces of the children, some of whom were participating for the first time.
KTC remains dedicated to giving back to the community.
