PENAMPANG: Parti Kerjasama ANAK NEGERI Supreme Council Member, Dr. Edwin Bosi, has highlighted public discontent about the exorbitant parking fees imposed by the local authority within the Penampang municipality.
Dr. Bosi said he welcomed the fact that the Penampang district has been elevated to municipality status but asked why the new Penampang Municipal Council’s first order of business was to impose an exorbitant parking fee.
He said the high parking fees disrupt businesses or trading activities, as people feel discouraged and thus avoid going to town.
“I agree that by introducing parking fees, it mitigates the traffic congestion and resolves the lack of parking spaces during peak hours, but the parking fee should be affordable and reasonable,” said Dr. Bosi in a statement today.
“I have since met and communicated my concern about the exorbitant parking fee to the new president of the Penampang Municipal Council, Mr. Michael Chong,” he said.
“The Council President has promised good news after the Chinese New Year, so I expect him to revise and resolve the parking fees issue within the Penampang Municipality,” he said.
