KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) is set to unveil the National Franchise Policy 2030 (DFN2030) during the upcoming Pernas International Franchise Festival 2025 (PIFF2025) on February 7.
Its minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said that in line with the Cabinet’s decision to centralize the franchise ecosystem under KUSKOP, the ministry has refined the draft of the Franchise Entrepreneur Development Policy 2030.
He noted that the previous policy, which focused solely on the development of franchise entrepreneurs, will be enhanced to create DFN2030, which encompasses the entire franchise industry ecosystem.
“DFN2030 was presented and approved by the Cabinet on December 7, 2024, and will be launched on February 7, 2025, in conjunction with PIFF2025,” he said.
Ewon made these remarks while responding to a question from Datuk Muslimin Yahaya (Sungai Besar) during the First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament in the Dewan Rakyat today.
Muslimin inquired about KUSKOP’s latest plans for the National Franchise Entrepreneur Development Policy 2030 aimed at strengthening the franchise entrepreneurship ecosystem, including the centralization of the franchise ecosystem through governance aspects and the number of financing and training initiatives provided to franchise entrepreneurs.
Ewon explained that DFN2030 outlines five core areas, 15 strategies, 30 initiatives, and four primary objectives.
“This aligns with efforts to develop viable and sustainable franchise entrepreneurs through brand transformation and governance efficiency,” he added.
Furthermore, he mentioned that regarding financing and training for franchise entrepreneurs, KUSKOP and Pernas are set to allocate RM33.11 million in funding to 175 franchise entrepreneurs in 2024.
Additionally, the ministry and Pernas will implement a total of 28 programs.
