Is Warisan seeking collaboration exclusively with PBS and STAR?

KOTA KINABALU: The Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) is interested in collaborating solely with the Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), along with other local parties within the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) that do not face integrity issues.

This indicates that Warisan is rejecting cooperation with the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS), which is considered a key party in GRS, due to significant doubts regarding the sincerity of its leadership.

In a statement, the Warisan Information Chief, Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman, clarified that previous reports regarding an invitation for collaboration with GRS did not accurately reflect the party’s true intentions.

He emphasized that the remarks made by Warisan President, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, concerning collaboration with local parties for the upcoming 17th State Election (PRN17) were misinterpreted and taken out of context.

“It is crucial to clarify that the statement from our president, Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, has been misrepresented and quoted outside its intended context.

“What was conveyed by the President was an invitation for collaboration with local parties such as PBS, STAR, and any other local parties within GRS that do not have integrity issues, demonstrating courage and decisiveness without needing to refer to leaders in Putrajaya.

“This priority aims to strengthen local parties in Sabah as they prepare for the upcoming State Election (PRN), aligning with the current political dynamics, and Sabah should emulate the wisdom of the Sarawak people in selecting their leaders,” he stated in a press release.

Azis expressed skepticism regarding the sincerity of the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS), citing the party’s previous attempts to persuade Warisan representatives to switch allegiance.
