KOTA KINABALU: A new town is set to be established in Kota Kinabatangan soon.
The Kinabatangan District Council and Sunmow Construction Sdn. Bhd. have signed a Joint Venture Agreement for the development of the new mixed-use town, Seri Milian, during a ceremony at Wisma Innoprise here on Friday.
This partnership covers an area of 157.48 acres.
Deputy Chief Minister II and Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam, who witnessed the signing ceremony, expressed hope that this development will benefit the people, especially in the Kinabatangan district.
It is expected that this project will serve as a new growth centre in the Kinabatangan district, enhancing property values in the surrounding area.
Additionally, the development will act as a catalyst for local economic growth by providing new infrastructure, creating job opportunities, and improving income levels and economic status in the area.
“I have been informed that to realise this joint venture proposal, several meetings and discussions have taken place at the district level and with the Ministry, involving the District Council, District Office, other government agencies, and stakeholders in the Kinabatangan district.
“I congratulate and commend all of you for your efforts that have led to this achievement. Although this is just the beginning, it is very significant, and I am confident that everyone involved will continue to pay attention to the developments that are expected to lead to progress and rapid growth in the Kinabatangan district,” he said.
He also hopes this will be a starting point for something beneficial that can be enjoyed by all the people in the Kinabatangan district.
Also present were Assistant Ministers of Local Government and Housing I and II, Datuk Isnin Aliasnih and Datuk Mohd Hamsan Awang Supain.
