Frankie Poon raises concerns regarding the inadequate management of airport car parking in Sandakan

SANDAKAN: Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung, the assemblyman for Tanjung Papat, has voiced serious concerns about the poor management and oversight at the airport car park, which has caused considerable frustration and inconvenience for numerous users.

He cited a recent incident that occurred during the early morning hours, resulting in two vehicles being stuck at the exit without any staff available to provide assistance.

“After a prolonged wait, a staff member eventually arrived but imposed extra charges on the users, despite the delay being due to the lack of on-site personnel,” he stated in a press release.

Frankie Poon emphasised that the airport, as an essential public facility, must uphold high service standards and accessibility for all its users.

He remarked that it is unacceptable for customers to be left without assistance, particularly when they incur additional fees through no fault of their own.

“Such problems not only disrupt travellers but also tarnish the reputation of our public facilities,” he noted.

Consequently, he urged the airport car park management to promptly rectify this issue by enhancing staffing arrangements to ensure personnel are present at all times, especially for exit assistance.

“Further, I urge management to guarantee that users are not subjected to unfair charges due to operational delays that are beyond their control.

“My office will persist in monitoring this situation and collaborating with management to ensure that the airport car park meets the public’s expectations,” he stated.

He encouraged any users who face similar challenges to report them, as “we are dedicated to advocating for fair treatment and dependable services for everyone.”

“Together, let us strive to improve the quality of public facilities and provide a more favourable experience for travellers at our airport,” he concluded.
