KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Democratic Action Party (DAP) will host its 2024 Ordinary Convention at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on Sunday.
The conference theme is “Unity in Diversity, Hope for Sabah.”.
Over 800 members from across Sabah, including state committee members, MPs, State Assemblymen, qualified delegates, and observers, are invited to attend.
During the event, delegates will elect 15 new members to the Sabah DAP State Committee.
In a statement, Sabah DAP announced the details of the convention, explaining that the party election will use a multi-member voting system, where delegates will elect 15 state committee members.
The newly elected committee will then select office bearers for key state positions, including the state chairperson.
This year, 22 candidates are nominated, from which delegates will elect the 15-member leadership.
DAP Secretary-General Loke Siew Fook will serve as the party’s central representative for the conference.
The Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the conference will be Mas Gading MP Mordi Anak Bimol and Bintulu Branch Chairperson Tony Chiew, respectively.
The party’s Sabah Secretary has sent official convention notification letters to all relevant state delegates.
Each letter specifies the delegate’s registration counter and delegate number. All state delegates are encouraged to attend and are requested to arrive punctually between 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM.
The statement mentioned that Loke Siew Fook, who is also the Minister of Transport, will address the convention, providing members with an update on the current political landscape and the party’s direction.
The convention agenda includes the election of the 15-member state committee, approval of minutes from the previous convention, consideration and acceptance of the previous financial report, consideration and acceptance of the progress report on party affairs, deliberation and acceptance of convention resolutions, and review of proposals and/or declarations presented by the state committee.
