KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that he does not want the state to lose any money allotted for projects because of corruption, nor should it postpone implementing them.
As reported by Berita Harian, he said Sabah received the highest allocation in the 2025 budget, to use the funds effectively for development.
Speaking at the opening of the Sabah International Blue Economy Conference 2024 here today, Anwar stated that the amount represents a minor rise over the RM6.66 billion the state was given in this year’s budget.
“Please appreciate that the allocation for Sabah is the highest recorded. Now, your task is to implement it transparently and efficiently,” he said.
Anwar stated that the substantial sum set aside for Sabah’s development is intended to guarantee that the state’s citizens can benefit from good infrastructure.
He expressed his desire for all Sabahan projects—like the Pan Borneo Highway—that are part of the 2025 budget to be completed as soon as possible.
Anwar, who is also the minister of finance, announced yesterday that RM253 million would be spent by the government to expand the airports at Tawau in Sabah and Miri in Sarawak.
