TAWAU: The Spirit of 85 serves as the driving force behind the recent Youth Movement Convoy launched by the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) here on Sunday.
Acting President YB Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam has called upon the PBS Youth Movement to embrace the essence of the 1985 struggle championed by past leaders of the party, emphasising the importance of conveying the party’s mission to the youth.
He highlighted that PBS’s fight is solely dedicated to defending and advocating for the rights of the people of Sabah, as enshrined in the Malaysia Constitution of 1965 (MA65).
“Numerous demands have been made for the benefit of the people of Sabah, and PBS will persist in pursuing all rightful claims,” stated the Deputy Chief Minister II during the closing ceremony of the Convoy at Kubota Square.
Dr. Joachim pointed out that as the oldest local party in Sabah, PBS is a multiracial and multi-religious organisation committed to advocating for the interests of the people, particularly in areas such as education, healthcare, and development.
He urged the Youth Movement to strengthen PBS and to organise more initiatives like the Convoy across Sabah.
“We want everyone to share more about the spirit of PBS’s struggle. This Convoy not only fosters friendship but also reinforces the bonds among PBS youth.
“This event marks the beginning of our journey to unite and enhance the quality of engagement within PBS, especially among the youth throughout Sabah,” he added.
He reiterated that PBS will continue to stand with GRS, stating, “We will work diligently with our partners in GRS to secure victory in the upcoming State General Election.
“We will also maintain collaboration between the state and federal governments,” he said.
