Chinese leader to be appointed as State Minister of Finance if Warisan wins in PRN – Shafie Apdal

TAWAU: The Parti Warisan Sabah WARISAN) plans to appoint a Chinese leader as a state minister of finance if it wins the upcoming state election (PRN).

WARISAN president, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, said that the Chinese community should be given the chance to hold important ministries based on their expertise.

He emphasised that WARISAN wants all ministries in Sabah to be led by representatives based on their abilities, regardless of race or religion.

“I believe this is very important because we understand that many issues in Sabah are related to economic problems.

“Therefore, I am confident that WARISAN has Chinese representatives who can serve as Minister of Finance if we win in the upcoming state election,” he said.

He made these remarks during a dinner event with the Chinese community in Tawau on Sunday.

Additionally, Shafie said that the wealth of Sabah needs to be managed properly through collaboration between the government and the private sector.

He noted that it is time to enhance this partnership to ensure that the state’s resources benefit Sabah and its people.

“For example, regarding gold in Tawau, I have been informed that only one company manages it, and we do not know the total revenue.

“There may be taxes involved, but the exact amount generated from gold in Tawau is unclear, highlighting the need for transparency in managing Sabah’s resources,” he said.

He further commented that all natural resources in Sabah should be directed towards development and the welfare of the people in the state.

Shafie expressed his happiness that WARISAN is gaining support from the Chinese community in the area.

“Tonight alone, over 1,000 people from the Chinese community attended, and we have welcomed more than 800 new members from 16 new branches. I am very confident that the Chinese community will continue to support WARISAN in developing this state,” he added.
