SANDAKAN: The Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (JPPKK), in collaboration with Politeknik Sandakan Sabah (PSS), has organised Festival Agromakanan dan Bioteknologi (FAMB) 2024.
The festival took place from August 22nd to 29th, 2024 at the Sandakan Sports Complex and Politeknik Sandakan Sabah.
The program was officiated by Dato’ Hj. Mohammad Yusof Bin Apdal, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation. Themed “Agricultural Technology Based on Sustainable Development Goals,” FAMB 2024 served as a main platform for researchers, students, government agencies, and the private sector to gather and share knowledge and innovative ideas in the field of agricultural technology.
The festival also featured various interesting events such as research paper presentations, product innovation competitions, product pitching competitions, agropreneur product sales competitions, and the Smart Community Programme (SCP), which focused on sustainable mangrove forest restoration.
FAMB 2024 saw participation from various parties, including lecturers and students from polytechnics, community colleges, public and private universities, research institutes, vocational schools, as well as relevant government and private agencies.
According to Yusof, such a festival is able to guide the agro-food sector to always be competitive and innovative in developing and contributing to the community with great research and innovation results, especially to the agro-food sector.
Also present were the Director of the Curriculum Division, Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education, Dr. Zamzam bin Mohd Walid, and the Director of Politeknik Sandakan Sabah, Mohd Sani bin Said.
The impact of this program was not only felt by students and participants but also by the Sandakan community and industry to keep updated on innovation and technology in the agricultural field.
