KOTA KINABALU: Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should not see the 115 Statutory Declarations (SD) as a carte blanche (unlimited power) to become Prime Minister, according to former Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.
He emphasised that for important national issues, “we cannot simply accept the Statutory Declaration at face value.”
Salleh said that it needs to be confirmed through physical presence to ensure its authenticity and the reality of the support.
He urged Muhyiddin to ask the non-Perikatan Nasional MPs who allegedly signed the SDs to publicly declare their support for him after the 15th General Election.
“If Muhyiddin believes the SD is genuine, he should not hesitate to invite these MPs to show their support publicly before the upcoming Merdeka Day,” he said in his latest Facebook post.
On Wednesday, Muhyiddin submitted several documents to the police regarding accusations of disrespecting the royal institution.
Muhyiddn was quoted as saying that this was to help the police with their investigation into his remarks made during the recent Nenggiri by-election campaign.
