Gagasan Rakyat becomes a growing concern for its opponents, Masiung

TONGOD: The formation of the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah, which governs the state, is not only alarming its rivals but also stirring jealousy among the opposition due to its new policies benefiting the people.

Vice President of Gagasan Rakyat Datuk Masiung Banah described the opposition leaders in Sabah as stuck in their efforts to find common ground, resorting to dishonest tactics to regain their lost influence.

He spoke at the Annual General Meeting of Gagasan Rakyat for the Penangah division, which was attended by more than 500 party supporters at the Penangah Multipurpose Hall here on Monday.

He pointed out that the inability of opposition leaders to spot weaknesses in the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has led some of their followers to engage in unethical behaviour, reflecting their party’s culture.

“Currently, they are forced to create false stories, including sharing videos to tarnish leaders’ reputations, complicating their approach.

“These timid opposition leaders and their supporters are driven to spread lies because they are afraid to engage in constructive political discussions as the State General Election (PRN) nears.

“If they have real evidence, they should take it to the authorities and bring me to court,” he declared, earning loud applause from the crowd.

Last week, the police received four complaints about defamatory videos linking Masiung and the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

The Kuamut representative challenged those spreading lies to debate him on the Clinker and Cement Factory project in Tongod and the Tanjung Aru Housing Project in Kota Kinabalu.

Masiung stressed that he would not back down from slander, as he has been chosen by the people to lead Kuamut.
