KINABALU CITY; Four police complaints have been made regarding the dissemination of two defamatory videos on Kuamut People’ s Representative Datuk Masiung Banah and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor which went viral on social media since last Friday.

All the police complaints were made, two in Sandakan and one in Penempang and Karamunsing.

The two videos were deliberately uploaded by irresponsible individuals who aimed to humiliate the two leaders involved.

Following the complaint, the police have opened an investigation paper to hunt down the individual responsible for the spread of the video.

One of the complainants, Willy Frous Darinsok who is also the Youth Leader of Gagasan Rakyat (Gagasan Rakyat) Kuamut Division, described the spread of the slanderous video as politically motivated.

The first video lasting 2 minutes 57 seconds was uploaded on a social media site accusing Masiung who is also the Chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Board (LPPB) of taking RM2 million in commercials from the board’s new project.

The accusation, he said, was not true at all because Masiung did not have the executive authority to approve or demolish the old building because it required the approval of the State Cabinet.

Willy Frous said, as soon as the police conduct an investigation, they will file the case with the Court to bring the perpetrators to justice.

In addition, Masiung is also accused of evicting the residents of Tanjung Aru flats in a short time without going through legal procedures.

According to Willy Frous who is also one of the officials at LPPB, the Tanjung Aru Flat building is more than 50 years old where his employer has received a report from the Public Works Department (JKR) and the Consultant that the dilapidated building structure is not safe to live in.

He said, LPPB had also issued a notice since the beginning of 2021 and gave a long enough period of almost four years to the residents to move.

“Most residents who refuse to move have high rent arrears and do not make monthly rent payments.

“However, now, a large number of residents have already vacated the house and there are only about 100 residents left who refuse to move.

“The opportunity has been used by a few opposition leaders to seek personal political influence until the spread of slanderous videos,” he explained.

Willy Frost said, LPPB has detailed records because some residents refuse to move for certain reasons even though they have been offered LPPB houses elsewhere.

Meanwhile, another individual, Kamarudin Mahalil, also lodged a complaint at the Seguntur Police Station, Batu 8, Sandakan regarding another video linking the names of Masiung and Hajiji uploaded on various social media sites since Friday.

The 1-minute 35-second video linked the names of Masiung and Hajiji in relation to the Clinker and Cement factory project in Tongod district.

Kamarudin believes the spread of the video has something to do with opposition party supporters who are jealous of the Hajiji-led State Government’s success through the RM1.2 billion investment.

Allegation that the house of the Kuamut Representative was raided by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) regarding the Klinker and Cement factory issue is pure slander.

So far, there is no sign of the authorities, whether the IRB, the police or the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) coming to raid the home of the Vice President of Gagasan Rakyat.
