KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has clarified that the RM16 billion announced for Sabah during the Kaamatan festival on May 31 is the total allocation for the state this year.
According to a Bernama report, he stated that the amount covers various expenditures, including schools, education, border security, and overall state development.
Anwar dismissed allegations of deception about the allocation and urged all parties, especially leaders he considers friends, to seek accurate information or ask him directly before making public statements.
Speaking at the Sabah PKR convention here today, he emphasised that the RM6.6 billion is solely for development, and the total RM16 billion includes expenses such as teachers’ salaries, road repairs, and border security maintenance.
Anwar also called for decorum in friendship and suggested that negotiations for additional allocation should be done in a friendly manner.
The event was attended by several prominent leaders, including chief minister Hajiji Noor, Sabah Pakatan Harapan chairman Christina Liew, and Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Bung Moktar Radin.
