SANDAKAN: UMNO members should avoid being disruptive forces within the party, as this can weaken its unity and stability.
According to Libaran UMNO Chief, Datuk Suhaimi Haji Nasir, the party is not only threatened by external enemies, but also by the harmful actions of its own members.
These actions, such as being scissors in the fold, throwing stones, and hiding hands, can pose a serious threat to the party’s strength.
“Do not let us practice such a culture, being scissors in the fold, backstabbing, and our struggle being clouded by temporary pleasures will not strengthen the party but will have a negative impact on the party,” he said.
Suhaimi said this in his speech at the opening ceremony of the UMNO Libaran Division Delegates Meeting at Balairung Amanda Aisyadelia Cottage Batu 14 Sandakan recently.
The opening ceremony of the Delegates Meeting was officiated by UMNO Vice President Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and was also attended by Hajah Aminah Johan as the representative of Sabah UMNO.
Suhaimi, who is also the Sabah UMNO Information Chief, emphasized the necessity of preserving the integrity of the party.
He said that the party cannot afford to have members or leaders who act as divisive elements or obstacles.
He referenced the previous decisive measures taken by Sabah UMNO, which included the expulsion of certain leaders deemed detrimental to the party’s interests.
This action was prompted by the need to prevent any hindrance to UMNO’s role in the establishment of the government, which was undermined by the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah coalition.
Furthermore, Suhaimi noted that UMNO Sabah was implicated in an alleged power grab referred to as ‘Langkah Kinabalu.’
However, he clarified that this attempt did not materialize, as there were no sworn affidavits (SD) submitted for presentation to the Palace.
