Provide concrete evidence if indeed UMNO deprived Sabahans of their rights or led by individuals from Malaya – Azuwan

KOTA KINABAlU: Kota Belud UMNO chief Azuwan Marjan believes that UMNO has not deprived the people of Sabah of their rights or is predominantly led by individuals from Malaya.

He urges those making such claims to provide concrete evidence to support their allegations.

“Sabah Umno is led by a Sabahan and is not dominated by individuals from Malaya,” he said in Kota Belud recently.

Azuwan sees the negative perception as a tactic used by certain parties for their own political interests.

He expresses disappointment in leaders who spread such sentiments, especially since they have benefited from Umno/BN in the past.

Azuwan dismisses the claims made by local party leaders in Sabah, urging the people not to reject parties from Malaya based on these allegations.

Azuwan warns that such sentiments could harm the unity among different ethnic groups in the nation.

He advises Sabahans not to fall for the “Malaya” tactic used by some ex-UMNO/BN leaders for their political survival.

UMNO Vice President Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani was quoted as saying recently that UMNO’s presence in Sabah since 1990 was at the request of local party leaders to stabilise politics in the state.

Johari believes that political stability is crucial for Sabah’s development and that UMNO is working with the people of Sabah to achieve this goal.
