Sabah UMNO Chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said this shows that UMNO Sabah has the highest membership compared to other states in Malaysia.

He said the figure shows a drastic increase in Sabah UMNO’s membership, proving that UMNO is still the people’s choice in Sabah.

He said that before the 2018 general election, UMNO Sabah had around 530,000 members but recorded a decrease after losing in GE14.

“In 2018, UMNO Sabah was crippled as if it were attacked by a graruda bird… A few UMNO members were even ashamed to wear the UMNO logo.

“Little by little, UMNO Sabah’s membership is increasing; we are reorganising divisions and branches at all levels, making UMNO relevant and the people’s choice in Sabah,” he said.

He said this in his speech when opening the assembly meeting of the Youth, Women, and Puteri UMNO Movement in Beaufort Division at the Dato Syahbandar Makang Kuala Penyu Hall here today.

Meanwhile, in related developments, Bung Moktar said Sabah UMNO is giving a one-month period to allow the Beaufort Division to provide detailed data to identify the actual number of voters in their area.

“We are now on the verge of the 17th State Election (PRN17). If we want to recapture the Klias State Legislative Assembly (DUN), we need to work hard immediately.

“UMNO Beaufort has a bright chance of winning in DUN Klias, but if early action is not taken, being complacent will give our opponents the chance to take advantage,” Bung Moktar explained.

He said UMNO members must approach voters, not just rely on their own members, and not be egoistic.
