KOTA KINABALU: More than 130 teams have registered to take part in the 9th International Dragon Boat Race at Likas Bay, near here, for a duration of three days, commencing from June 7.

The President of the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS), Tan Sri T.C. Goh, said that among these teams, only two are foreign teams, namely Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines.

“The remaining teams are local dragon boat teams, which include teams from states in Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak.

“For those interested in joining, FCAS is still open for entry applications, and we anticipate a minimum of 155 teams to join in this year’s event,” he stated.

T.C. Goh also shared that FCAS has allocated over RM94,000 in prizes for different categories, which includes men’s and women’s teams.

“Hence, I encourage the community in and around Kota Kinabalu to continue showing their support and enthusiasm for this competition,” he told reporters after a courtesy call to the head of state, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, at Istana Seri Kinabalu.
