KOTA KINABALU: Two individuals lost their lives in a traffic collision at Bukit Kelawat in Kota Belud on Sunday evening.
The Operations Centre (PGO) spokesperson of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sabah, in a statement today, said that they were alerted to the incident at 7.42 pm (on April 14).
A team of firefighters from the Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station promptly responded to the scene, which was approximately 16 kilometers away from the station.
Upon arrival, they discovered that the accident involved a Proton Wira car and a Toyota Revo four-wheel drive.
The firefighters successfully extricated two victims who were trapped in the Proton Wira car, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene by the KKM medical officer.
The victims, a 28-year-old man and woman, were then handed over to the police for further investigation.
In the meantime, the driver and a passenger of the Toyota Revo were reported to be unharmed.
