Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Fairuz Renddan, emphasised the importance of addressing violence involving school students.

“We call upon the police and the Ministry of Higher Education to conduct a thorough investigation into this incident, which reportedly involved multiple dormitory residents. It is crucial that appropriate action is taken against those responsible.

“Preventing incidents like this requires discipline and a high level of tolerance among students and dormitory residents.

“Any conflicts among dormitory residents should be immediately reported to the dormitory warden to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future,” he said in a statement today.

The victim, Mohammad Nazmie Aizzat Muhd Narul Azwan, 17, was discovered unconscious by the dormitory warden at 6.50 am.

The Lahad Datu District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Rohan Shah Ahmad, confirmed that the police are investigating the incident thoroughly based on the report received from the college director.

“Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident occurred in the male college dormitory, with the body of a teenage boy found in a dormitory room,” he was quoted as saying yesterday.
