KOTA KINABALU: At least 65 residents lost their homes due to a fire that destroyed 10 houses at Kampung Likas, near here early this morning.
A spokesperson for the Central Operations Unit of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) in Sabah said they received an emergency call about the incident at 3.11 a.m. today (March 24).
“The Fire and Rescue Team from Balai Lintas, assisted by teams from Balai Kota Kinabalu and Penampang, rushed to the scene of the incident.
“The operation chief reported that there was a fire involving 10 semi-permanent houses that were 100 percent burned, affecting 17 families and 65 residents,” he said in a statement today.
He added that no casualties were reported in the fire.
“The firefighting operation was brought under control at 4.16 am and concluded at 6.49 am,” he added.
