SANDAKAN: A man suspected of attempting to replace his identity card with a counterfeit one was apprehended by officers from the Sandakan branch of the National Registration Department (NRD) last Tuesday.

The incident occurred when the man visited the NRD counter to request a replacement identity card.
Upon inspection by NRD officers, it was discovered that the information on the man’s identity card did not match the records in the NRD database.
Consequently, the man was detained by NRD officers in accordance with their granted authority.
Subsequently, he was handed over to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for further investigation and action.
