KOTA KINABALU: The statement made by Deputy Secretary-General of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, regarding the continuation of unity between GRS and Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the upcoming state election (PRN), is rather amusing.
According to Sabah UMNO election director Jeffrey Nor Mohamed, it is widely known that Datuk Yong Teck Lee, the Deputy Chairman of GRS, also holds the position of Deputy Chairman of Perikatan Nasional (PN) at the federal level.
This indirectly implies that PN remains an adversary to the unity government led by PH at the federal level.
Jeffrey Nor expressed his belief that before considering how to cooperate with PH in the upcoming PRN, the Member of Parliament for Papar should address this issue and resolve it.
He also questioned the sincerity of the GRS government in supporting the Unity government, especially considering the presence of an appointed State Assemblyman, Dr. Aliakbar Gulasan, who is also Sabah PAS commissioner.
As the Putatan UMNO chief, Jeffrey Nor emphasized that it is widely understood that only the government coalition should be present in the State Legislative Assembly, while PAS openly opposes PH at the federal level.
He questioned why GRS has not taken appropriate action to address this matter if they genuinely intend to form a coalition with PH in the Sabah PRN.
Furthermore, he pointed out that there are still numerous political appointments in Sabah that provide ample space for PAS members, raising doubts about the sincerity of GRS in wanting to align with PH.
