In a statement today, he expressed his concern over the numerous complaints he has received regarding burst pipes in various locations throughout Sandakan.

Despite the frequent announcements made by the department, Robert has not received any reports on the percentage of pipes that require urgent repair or replacement.

He emphasized that simply making announcements does not exempt them from the responsibility of reporting.

The people of Sandakan, particularly those in the business sector, are growing increasingly frustrated with the frequent and prolonged water supply disruptions.

Robert highlighted that the residents of Sandakan are living in the year 2024 and not the 1970s, and it is imperative to address the water piping issues.

He urged the water department to propose concrete solutions to resolve the problem and ensure that the water supply services are not poorly managed.

Robert also expressed his hope that the water department would allocate more funds to improve the infrastructure by replacing deteriorated pipes and conducting necessary surveys for urgent replacements.
