KDM Secretary General, Dr Gaim Lunkapis, confirmed that he was informed about Johair’s decision due to family problems.

The party leadership was already aware of Johair’s situation, including the impending auction of their house, and had provided assistance in settling their debt.

Although KDM currently does not hold any positions in the state, Dr Gaim remains optimistic that this is temporary and believes that KDM will secure victories in selected areas and eventually become part of the state government, he said in a statement today.

He emphasized that Johair’s resignation will not affect the leadership of KDM, led by Datuk Peter Anthony and Deputy President Wetrom Bahanda.

Dr Gaim said that it is common for leaders to come and go in politics and expressed KDM’s acceptance of Johair’s resignation.

He wished her the best of luck and reassured that KDM’s commitment to serving the people and fighting for their rights remains unwavering.

Johair announced her departure from KDM and expressed her support for Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) during a ceremony in Beaufort, attended by GRS Beaufort Chief Datuk Isnin Aliasnih.

She also expressed gratitude to KDM President for his dedication in elevating KDM’s status within Sabah and the federation.

The KDM family was also thanked for their trust and support throughout the years.
