SG4 makes Tun Mahathir the de facto leader of PN-Salleh

KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak has described the recent appointment of Tun Mahathir Mohamad as the advisor of “State Government 4” as a move to make the former premier the de facto leader of Perikatan Nasional (PN).

“Obviously, the four states, namely Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, are all PAS-controlled states.

“This explains why Tan Sri Muhyiddin was not invited when PAS leaders met Tun Mahathir earlier this month,” he said in his latest Facebook posting.

The former Communications and Multimedia Minister stressed that the appointment was a brilliant move by Mahathir “if his real intention is to be in the political forefront again despite the setback in Langkawi during PRU 15”.

“I believe Tan Sri Muhyiddin has limited options but to play along with whatever decision is made by the PAS-led Perikatan Nasional on the appointment of Tun Mahathir,” he said.

The Menteri Besar of Terengganu, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, was quoted as saying recently that Mahathir Mohamad is set to become an “unofficial advisor” to an official grouping of the four Perikatan Nasional-controlled state governments.

Samsuri said the mentris besar of Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, and Perlis would be discussing an action plan for the group that’s been called the “State Government 4” or “SG4”.
